Bail denied for Kasambara: To stay another 30 days in prison

The High Court has not granted bail for former Minister of Justice Ralph Kasambara,  charged with attempt murder of Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo.

Kasambara, one of the country’s prominent lawyers and a senior counsel (SC),   has no yet entered a plea.

Judge has given the state 30 days to complete investigations which means  Kasamabara  will have to stay in prison for 30 more days.

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Bruno Kalemba said the one month period is to allow police conclude their investigations where Kasambara was implicated in the attempted murder of Treasury budget director Paul Mphwiyo.

Kasambara, who was arrested on November 8 in Lilongwe, was linked to the shooting of Mphwiyo.

President Joyce Banda , who Kasambara has named as one of his witness in the matter, is no record saying the shooting of the budget director was linked to his efforts to fight corruption.
