Balaka road accident claims four lives: Bullets fans
Four people are confirmed dead while 13 others are seriously injured after two vehicles collided in Balaka district Saturday morning; Balaka Police spokesperson sub-inspector Joseph Sauka confirmed the accident.

The accident involved a Blantyre-bound Toyota Hiace minibus registration number BS 167 and Hotel Victoria Nissan Caravan registration number CZ 5835 collided at Chitale in the district along Blantyre-Zalewa road.
Police confirmed three people died on the spot and the fourth person died as he was being taken to Zomba Central Hospital.
Seven people are currently admitted at Balaka district hospital while two have been referred to Queen Elizabeth central hospital with other four at Zomba central hospital and in critical condition.
Most people were supporters of Bullets FC who were travelling to watch the Blantyre derby between Big Bullets and Be Forward Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium.
“I can confirm that 3 people died on the spot while the other one died on his way to Zomba Central Hospital,” Sauka said.
Meanwhile, police have disclosed that the cause of the accident is yet to be known but earlier, an eye witness confided that one vehicle and belongs to Victoria Hotel had its tyre burst as the driver was allegedly speeding.
Sauka identified two of the dead as a Balaka Town Council employee who was assigned to Balaka Stadium and a pastor at Balaka Assemblies of God.

@vaanwyk. Thanks for your comment my friend. big media house like BBC images for example, they advise that the pictures may be disturbing. and even if you look at the pictures, the victims faces, or parts where there is so much trauma are covered/blurred. I wish Nyasatimes takes the same approach, I find it respectful to the families of the deceased as well as help to some readers who might find the picture too disturbing.

@ALFRED you say Nyasatimes is wrong by showing photographs of the four deceased? No my friend, posting photographs is one of the ethics of journalism. For to believe the story photographs of victims as well as vehicles involved needs to acompany the article? Sadalakwe. RIP .m
