How to let God deliver us though opposition increases
Many times children of God have faced battles of life, which have made them despair to an extent of failing to pray. These are times when the enemy surround us, and the attacks look too much in the physical and we are convinced that there is no way out. In most cases, children of God have thought that life was better before salvation than where they are going to now.
These are the tricks that the devil uses to deceive us, so that we can give up. But, I would like to encourage you that the intimidation, oppression, and all the things that the devil throws at us are nothing compared to the good things that God has promised and prepared for His children.
The bible has a very good example of intimidation, fear, and oppression of the Children of the Israelites. When Pharaoh saw that Moses was asking for the deliverance of the children of Israel, he increased the pressure and the workload, almost to a killing pace. This was emphasized when Pharaoh commanded not to give them straw to make bricks, and make them gather straw for themselves (Exodus 5:7- 9). He further instructed that more work should be given to them so that they were not able to regain vain words from Moses. The offering of sacrifices that Moses was talking about was considered as vain words by Pharaoh. This is exactly the same opposition that is faced by believers when they want to carry out the will of God. The enemy will always react the same way and prevent believers from hearing the word of truth because it is “vain words” in the enemy’s point of view as they know they will be defeated with it.
When Nehemiah went back to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls, He faced great opposition from Sanballat upon hearing that there was progress in the work. Sanballat mocked Nehemiah and the people that he was working with by saying “What do these feeble Jews? Will they sacrifice? Will they make an end in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?”(Nehemiah 4:2). This is exactly how the enemy intimidates children of God, because every good step that is taken to get closer to God results in Satan’s anger, with opposition being increased. Take not that you will not see Satan fighting you, but this will be from the world, and the people who are mostly close to us are the once who are used by the enemy to bring the discouragements.
Believers should therefore know that as much as this is confusing at first, we should take heart. The enemy is just doing that because he knows we have found the source of victory; therefore he seeks to move the believer’s faith from God and the finished work of Jesus Christ to other things, using discouragement. There are many burnt stones which the devil has made believe that they can no longer be used by God, but these scriptures are saying the contrary. Instead of stopping because of intimidation, be simulated and know that the enemy is seeing something in you, and the Lord our God will see and reward the labor.
Yes, it may not be easy to defeat the evil plans of the enemy, but when God is in it He is the one who fights for us.“Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour”(1 Peter 5:8).Let us therefore realize that we are faced with a very powerful adversary. But we stand on the promises of God, that even though there may be many afflictions, God will deliver us from all. Never give up, Jesus has already overcome the world.
