Balaka West MP Shanil secures funding for construction of clinic
People of Balaka West Constituency can now afford a smile following the revelation that their Parliamentarian who is also former Malawi
first lady Patricia Shani Dzimbiri has secured funding for the construction of a Health Centre in the constituency.
According to Dzimbiri, the construction will be funded by the Irish government.
Initially, the plans were to construct an under five clinic but looking at how people are suffering to access medical treatment, they
have decided to construct a Health Centre.
“I decided to bring this project because the whole constituency we only rely on Balaka District Hospital because that is the only
hospital people can access. The nearby health centre is Kankao which is a Cham hospital you know people cannot afford to pay” said Shania Dzimbiri after the ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of the new project.
“I looked around and went to High Commissioners office and met the Ambassador where I explained our problem and I am grateful she
listened to us,” she said.
Additional funding for the project will be sourced from the Constituency Develompment Fund (CDF).
Speaking on behalf of the people of Balaka West, Traditional Authority Chanthunya hailed Shanil Dzimbiri for raising funds for the project.
T/A Chanthunya said once the project is completed, it will ease the challenge of travelling long distance to access medical treatment at
Balaka District Hospital which is at a distance of over 10 Kilometres
Kukongola iwe Patricia Shanil. Ndikukwatire bwanji?
The face tells a different story far from the has been home wrecker

Well done mama but leave the name shanil…concentrate on patricia since u are no longer a moslem.
As mentioned in the article, there is Kankao Health Centre within the area which belongs to CHAM (Christian Health Association of Malawi), and the MP has sourced some funds for another Health Centre. This is good news, but is she aware that the Malawi Gvt and CHAM in the 1970s signed an MOU which states that the MW Govt can not build any Health Facility within a Catchment Area of a CHAM Health Facility. It is this MOU which is victimizing Communities around these CHAM Facilities, whereby they have to pay for Health Services, yet their friends are getting them… Read more »
If Malawi had just 20% of its MPs like this one…. 15% of its ministers like this one, and the Presidents who think about giving to the nation and not Grabbing from the poor cow, I tell you the Mother Malawi could not be sickly as it is. Our society could be progressing, but Mmmmmh!! I pray for Mother Malawi. Ask yourselves why these so called Presidents, MPs, Ministers always get richer after getting in office. But ask yourselves why at the same time Malawi as a nation moves backwards- people becoming poorer, as they see their small shops closing,… Read more »
