Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao confirmed that the two-day event would involve 60 wannabe players from the main and reserve teams and trialists.

Butao said the exercise was important because it would help them to come up with the best squad for the forthcoming season.

“We feel that a bonanza is proper and will give coach Elia Kananji a window to separate the chaff from the wheat,” Butao said.

“Other aspiring players will also be given a chance to try their luck . In this past this has worked for example Lawrence Majawa [ former Wanderers captain now playing in Botswana] was spotted out of the same concept.”

He said the team had set aside prizes for the teams to fight for it in order to make the bonanza exciting.

Wanderers roped in Kananji who was left in the cold by rivals Bullets after leading the team to a double league and cup victory.

But contractual disputes forced the former Blantyre United coach to seek blue pastures at the Lali Lubani Road after seeing red at Bullets.
