Ben Michael Mankhamba returns with Kadona

Veteran music icon, Ben Michael Mankhamba has resurfaced on the scene with a hit-single Kadona, vividly pronouncing a comeback to reclaim his old glory.

Just a week old, Kadona, an afro-pop tune is quickly claiming spots in most music charts while enjoying airplay in most radio stations across the country.

Kadona with captive lyrics that conquer both the heart and mind, paint out a picture of how a real and beautiful Malawian woman is like.

In one of the verses, the Kuche Kuche Music Award six times winner, Mankhamba referred the beauty of the woman to American President, Balack Obama’s mirror while showering more praises on her attractive features.

With Kadona set to revitalize the popularity of the Alonda and Moyo Wantauni hits maker, the artist could not hide but disclose the coming in of his ninth album to hit the market soon.

“The next album is Munthu Nkalulu. It will be on the street soon with Kadona in it. I have released the single for people to sample out what my next album will be like. My music is thematic and I have not changed from my identity, my touch of modernising Malawian traditional music,” Mankhamba explained.

Munthu Nkalulu is being produced by Symon Mwapesa of Albena Studios in the populous township of Ndirande, Blantyre.

Mankhamba who is more popular outside the country than locally said had stopped holding music shows due to poor response from the public.

“We are in a generation that does not buy music, and is selective in terms of patronising performances. I have therefore put my main focus on working with corporate world. Meanwhile I have signed a six-month contract with Safintra to do a countrywide promotion of its Mkango Plus Malata product.” he disclosed.

Mankhamba has eight albums to his credit, which include Moyo Wantauni, Anajere, Street Vendor, Tigube, Alonda and Press Conference.

The artist is currently an ambassador for Blantyre and German’s Havanna cities, which signifies the working relationship between Malawi and German.
