Beware of lions on the loose  -Malawi Police

Malawi Police has sounded the alert over lions on the loose in  Kasungu in the Central Region tobacco growing district of Malawi, believed  to have escaped from Kasungu National Park and are wondering about in some areas of the district.

Panic as lions on the loose in Kasungu

Kasungu Police spokesperson Edna Mzingwitsa said the lions had been spotted in two different places, first seen at Lisazi and later in the area of T/A Njombwa.

She warned that the lions may pose a threat to humans but said  there were no reports of injuries.

Mzingwitsa  persuaded people not to leave their homes until the situation is under control.

However, Director of Parks and Wild Life Bright Kumchedwa  said said rangers were on the ground to track the animals.

He urged communities “ to be very careful.”

Said Kumchedea: “ They should not send children to go to maize fields or other areas until we have handled the situation.”
