Bisnowaty joins Parliamentary race in Lilongwe
Lilongwe based business tycoon, David Bisnowaty on Thursday filed his nominations papers at the Lilongwe City Council offices where he said he wanst to represent Lilongwe City Centre as an independent parliamentary candidate.
Bisnowaty said it is unfortunate that Lilongwe is not looking as a Capital City 50 years after Malawi’s independence.
“My first priority is to transform Lilongwe City Centre into a real City,” said Bisnowaty, who also owns office complexes and parks.
Bisnowaty also owns a one stop shop and a modern filling station known as Bisnowaty Shopping mall. He also owns a pharmaceutical factory.
In an interview with Nyasa Times, he took a swipe at the government for neglecting road maintenance in the city of Lilongwe.
“I fill pity when I am going to my offices I find it difficult to drive because of portholes. When I become MP I will make sure that I assist in development of good roads befitting city status,” he said.
After the ceremony, Bisnowaty moved around the city of Lilongwe just to familiarise himself with the constituency.
