Black weekend for home teams as they suffer defeats: Malawi TNM Super League

Week 21 of the 2017 TNM Super League proved to be hard one for the home teams as they failed to make grades by utilizing home advantage in collecting maximum points.

Blantyre United failed to utilise home advantage as they lost to league leaders Wanderers

There were nine games which were played over the weekend, three on Saturday, six on Sunday which d registered six home defeats, three draws and no home win.

On Saturday, top of the bill encounter involved Zomba based, Red Lions which played host to third placed, Nyasa Big Bullets at Balaka stadium.

Bullets managed collected maximum points away from home through a 1-0 win while on the same afternoon two fixtures produced draws, Azam Tigers were held at home 0-0 against much improved Dwangwa United at Chilomoni Stadium while Civil Sporting secured 1-1 draw against determined Mzuni at Civo stadium in Lilongwe.

Super Sunday was busy day which saw current league leaders Mighty Be Forward Wanderers consolidating their lead when the beat Blantyre United at home Chilomoni stadium 2-0.

Blantyre United failed to stop elusive Wanderers and this has made them to remain 14th on the log table and is in relegation battle together with Chitipa United.

Lucky was not on their side, as TNM defending Champions Kamuzu barracks succumbed to a 2-0 drubbing to high flying Mzuni at Civo stadium.

Salima based Mafco got beaten before home crowd at their Chitowe stadium when they lost 0-1 to now fourth placed Blue eagles.
Dwangwa United posted a win over Premier Bet Wizard through 1-0 win at Mulanje Park.

Chitipa United played host to Moyale Barracks but they lost 2-3 at Mzuzu stadium.

Mzuni and Dwangwa united had fruitful outings as they all managed to collect fours points from the possible six.

The second round is proving to be difficult for some team although Bullets and wanderers seem to have started well by winning all their two games while Silver strikers have only won once after struggling to beat Premier Bet Wizards 1-0 and held to two draws against Blue Eagles 0-0 and Master Security 1-1.

At the meantime it’s a three horse race for the title as Wanderers, Silver and bullets are all aiming to finish high although Nomad have created a three point gap and have a gamer in hand over Silver.

They are seven points adrift their traditional rival, Bullets.
