BLM to promote safe sex in new condom and pill at Malawi Sand Music Festival

Malawi’s leading modern contraception provider, Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM), has introducing two new products, Manyuchi Premium Condoms, and back-up Emergency Contraception (EC) Pill. The products will be first marketed at this year’s Sand Music Festival at Livingstonia Beach Hotel stated from 27th to 29th October in Salima district.

The BLM says in a statement that the products will immediately go national after Sand Music Festival in Supermarkets, Clubs, selected Bars, Pharmacies, BLM Centres, Bluestar Private Partnership Clinics, selected Drugstores, selected Fillings Stations, and selected Grocery Stores other over-the-counter outlets.

“Manyuchi Premium is a first for Malawi. It has 3 exciting varieties in one single pack developed based on latest advanced modern technology and years of strenuous testing and improvements,” leads the statement.

It says Manyuchi Premium latex condoms have been engineered to have a moderate scent and reduced irritation to respond to consumer preferences.

“The varieties are (i) Improved Studded (Phwanyaphwanya) (ii) Ribbed (Dzinthiti) and (iii) Ultra-Thin (Latalata). ALL in one pack.”

According to the statement the BLM’s back-up Emergency Contraception (EC) Pill is an effective over-the-counter EC that can be taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex and can be effective for up to 5 days 2.

Sand Music Festival is Malawi’s hallmark event that draws together tourists, local people, business, youth, community organizations, media and visitors from all over the world on an annual basis to celebrate the Malawi’s’ s richness, diversity, dynamism and heritage.

The festival has gained its place as an international festival looking at the number of patrons and artists trickling in from the entire Southern region of Africa and beyond.

Organizers of the Sand Music Festival– Impact Events- have unveiled Congolese music legend Awilo Longomba as one of this year’s festival international headliners.

The sensational Kufewa Acrobatics who have suddenly risen to fame, is also set to perform at the country’s biggest music festival in Salima.

Widely known for their gravity defying moves, the outfit will also screen their new film, Town Monger. The movie was premiered in Lilongwe weeks ago to a large audience at Crossroads Hotel.
