Bolivian arrested in Malawi on drugs, illegal forex charges

Police in Blantyre are keeping in custody a Bolivian national for being found in possession of illegal drugs, foreign currency and other offensive weapons (ammunitions).

Southern Region Police Spokesperson, Nicholas Gondwa has confirmed of the arrest.

According to police, Carlos Osvalao Quiroga Jaime was arrested around 3 o’clock in the evening of October 30, 2012 at his Namiwawa residence when officers searched his house after a tip off.

Jaime was found in possession of eight cobs of Indian hemp, quarter gram of cocaine, nine live ammunitions, 1770 British Pound, 3000 United States Dollars, 1995 Euros and 124 700 Zambian Kwacha and 20 meticais.

Meanwhile, Blantyre police are keeping Jaime in custody where he has been charged with several counts of  being found in possession dangerous drugs, illegal possession of offensive weapons (ammunitions), and found in possession of foreign currency without legal documents.

Jaime who was once one of the owners of Doogles Lodge which is behind Wenela bus terminal, will appear before court soon to answer the charges.
