Boy commits suicide, another drowns
A 10-year-old in Mzimba district has died after hanging himself in a house while in Rumphi a 12 year-old boy died after drowning in Mwazisi River, Police have confirmed.
Northern Region Police Spokesperson Sub Inspector Norrah Chimwala said the boy in Mzimba, Chiukepo Mtonga had left his brother, aged 12 and friends playing and rushed home.
He took long to return prompting his brother to make a follow up and he found that he had hanged himself. The incident happened at Isaac Lukhanda Viilage, Traditional Authority Mmbelwa in Mzimba.
A post mortem revealed that the boy died due to strangulation.
Chimwala said Police suspects no foul play.
While in Rumphi, Chisomo Mbewe died suddenly after drowning in Mwazisi River at Kamtembo Village, T/A Chikulamayembe in Rumphi.
According to Police the deceased, who was born with mental health and walking problems, was trying to follow his younger brother Ganizani Junior aged 9 who had crossed Mwazisi River to another village.
“But due to his walking problem he failed to balance and fell into the river and drowned. He was found the following day floating. Police and medical personnel from Rumphi Hospital visited the scene and confirmed that death was due to suffocation,” Chimwala said
