BT United beat Rumphi Medicals to reach Carlsberg Cup Round of 16

Blantyre United FC have booked themselves a Carlsberg Cup Round of 16 slot after beating Rumphi Medicals 3-1 in a match played at the Chilomoni Stadium in the Commercial City of Blantyre on Thursday.

United took the lead in as early an early 47 seconds after kick off through their hitman Jide Mbandamanda.

First half ended 1-0 in favour of the hosts but Rumphi Medicals resurected in the second half and got an equaliser in the 50th minute through Jacob Tembo.

After sensing danger, this prompted Blantyre United to put up an extra gear.

They were later midway into the second half rewarded as Ibrahim Sadick restored their lead.

He went on to compelete his brace 22 minutes later to make iot 3-1 in favour of the home side.

This means that Blantyre United will now face Cobbe Barracks in the Round of 16 to determine who will progress to the quaterfinals between the two sides.

Cobbe ousted TNM Super League side Azam Tigers through post match penalties to reach the round of 16 phase.

The last Round of 32 match will be played this Saturday and it will involve TN Stars and Prison United.
