Bullets were awarded ‘scandalous’ penalty – Mafco coach laments

Nyasa Big Bullets probably don’t need favourable refereeing decisions to help them win matches, but they got one against Malawi Defence Force (MDF)-sponsored side Mafco FC at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota on Sunday.

Msuku: Blamed a “scandalous” penalty decision for defeat to Bullets

At Chitowe, with the match deep into added time and both sides looking like taking a share of the spoils, referee  amazingly awarded a penalty after Mafco defender Maurice Chiumia was adjudged to have fouled Brigh Munthali, from which Fischer Kondowe chipped home a winning goal.

Munthali drew first blood for Bullets in the early stages before Mafco equalised through Zikani Sichinga.

But Mafco coach Temwa Msuku blamed a “scandalous” penalty decision  for the draw.

Msuku said the peanlty was a creation of the referee.

“Our football is being spoiled by match officials. The referee awarded a dubious penalty just because he had already planned. Otherwise, the worst result for us was supposed to be a draw.It is a shame to our game,”said Msuku.

“It is a scandalous decision. It was not a penalty, it was a creation of the referee. The decision is wrong and that’s it. And it came at an absolutely important time for them. No penalty, no goal.”

Be Forward Wanderers continue to lead the title push after thet came from a goal down to beat a stubborn Dwangwa United 3-2 at Balaka Stadium.
