Bullets beat Chitipa to stay fourth: Malawi FDH Bank Premiership

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets returned to winning ways in the FDH Bank Premiership on Sunday, securing a 2-0 victory over Chitipa United at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

The win will come as a relief for the People’s Team, who had struggled to turn their dominance into victories in recent weeks, with a string of draws proving costly.

Blessings Mpokera opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Clever Kalambo added a second to secure all three points.

Despite the convincing scoreline, head coach Wedson Nyirenda admitted his side still needs to improve their composure in front of goal, saying his players could have scored more than five had they taken their chances.

“Today we were a better team compared with the recent games. The only thing we did not do is utilize those chances, and we will work on that,” Nyirenda said.

He praised Chitipa United’s defensive organisation, saying the northern-based side had made life difficult for his attackers by defending tightly.

The win moves Bullets to 23 points from 12 matches, keeping them in fourth place as week 12 concludes, separated from defending champions Mighty Wanderers only by goal difference.

The result marks an important step in rebuilding momentum for Bullets after a frustrating run of draws, with the challenge now to maintain their improved performance and become more clinical in front of goal as the season continues.
