Bullets coach Nyirenda hails ‘five-star’ display

Bullets head coach Wedson Nyirenda praised his players for what he described as a five-star performance, one that saw his side finish the first round emphatically and ascend to the summit of the table.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets produced their most emphatic performance in years, thrashing Silver Strikers 5-0 to move top of the FDH Bank Premiership table with 30 points.

It took just two minutes for the rout to begin, with hat-trick hero and Player of the Match Ephraim Kondowe opening the scoring to set the tone for a one-sided afternoon.

Silver Strikers tried to hit back through Chinsisi Maonga, who wasted a golden chance that could have brought the Bankers level.

Instead, Kondowe struck again in the 34th minute to double Bullets’ lead, before Wongani Lungu made it 3-0 before half-time, leaving Silver head coach Peter Mgangira shaking his head in disbelief as he trudged to the dressing room.

The second half offered little relief for the visitors. Kondowe completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute, assisted by Lungu, before Misheck Billiat added a fifth in the 70th minute to complete the misery.

Silver Strikers coach Peter Mgangira admitted his side had been left reeling by the scoreline.

“Not a scoreline that we expected. We conceded, I think, silly goals. Individual errors and also departmental errors,” Mgangira said.

“It’s something that we need to work on. On the performance, I think we played well. But then football is decided by goals. So, yes, a bad result.”
