Business lady Martha Wataya donates books to school in Machinga

Blantyre based business woman Martha Wataya spend some time on Thursday to donate 1,862 exercise books worth K200,000 to Dziwe Primary school in Mpilisi, Village, T/A Nsamala, Machinga, which according to authorities at the school will go a long way in alleviating problems that pupils experience.

According to Wataya, who was accompanied by his father, Kingsley Wataya, the donation was one part of her contribution in promoting the education sector in the country.

She said people cannot talk about uplifting education standards in Malawian schools when learning materials are not available.

The business lady said her father was a former pupil at Dziwe Primary school, and that she decided to come in and make this donation in order to ease the problem of writing materials.

Wataya said she believes that education is the backbone of the country’s socio-economic development but for pupils, especially those learning in rural schools to excel in their studies, they need to have enough learning materials.

Wataya re-affirms her commitment in supporting government efforts in the provision of quality education in the country.

She also noted that the education sector faces numerous challenges among them shortage of learning and writing materials and that there is need for citizens and corporate organizations to come in and assist.

“I believe in sharing the little l have and my plea to Malawians and companies is to take a leading role in assisting schools where they once learned. We should not leave everything in the hands of government,” said Wataya.

Dziwe Primary School Headteacher Sylvester Muyaya thanked Wataya for the donation and urged other people, who once learned at the school to assist.

“We are very thankful for Martha because this donation will motivate our pupils especially girls basing on the fact that Martha herself is a youth,” he said.

This is not the first time for Martha, who is an entrepreneur to assist.

In November, 2014 she also donated 730 exercise books to Chitawira and Mlambalala Primary schools in Blantyre.

Thanks Martha for donating books to pupils to remove the high illiteracy of Machinga probably if they get educated they will not kill our albino brothers for juju to get easy riches.
The ministry of education is also a disgrace. They are always thinking of cashgate to erect new structures in cities and buying fleet of cars. They don’t care about the future generation.

We need many of such people. I am sure they are there but I guess we (many of us) fear to be labeled something. Let’s hope someone will not be frowning thinking mwayamba campaign Ya 2019. But keep it Martha and don’t be discouraged from doing good. Solidly behind your goodwill gesture…!!!
