Buyer shot dead over K200, 000: Malawi Police intensify investigations

Police in Ntchisi district in central Malawi have launched a manhunt for unknown criminals who shot dead a 40-year-old man and went away with money amounting to K200, 000.

Ntchisi police public relations officer sergeant Gradson Bumpha says the deceased, Gabson Magagula, who was working as a buyer for Bonga Investments, was attacked early hours of Wednesday at Bumphula Trading Centre.

“The deceased who was a buyer of soya beans at the trading centre was given K200 000 cash on Tuesday by his field supervisor Sitimanga Masina of Bonga Investiments in the presence of other people around the trading centre”, said Bumpha.

Bumpha said on Wednesday May 20 2015, armed criminals broke into the deceased’s house at about 1:30am where they shoot him dead and stole the cash.

“Police visited the scene of crime soon after the incident and the dead body was taken to Ntchisi District Hospital for postmortem which revealed that he has died because of severe loss of blood,” he says.

The deceased comes from Nekakanya Village in the area of Traditional Authority in Dedza.
