Calvalry Church’s Apostle Mbewe says ‘don’t vote for leaders who keep grudges’

A famous cleric has urged Malawians not to vote for leaders who keep grudges against their political opponents, saying such people have great potential to abuse office.

Apostle Mbewe: Tips on voting good leaders

Apostle Madalitso Mbewe of Cavalry Church said this on Sunday at his church in Zomba where he led congregants to pray for the May 21 peaceful elections.

“Such people who keep grudges have potential to destroy the country, they have potential to destroy the democracy and people will suffer under them,” he said.

He said good leaders forgive those that have wronged them.

Mbewe told the congregants that only good leaders will bring prosperity in the country.

Malawi goes to a highly contentious tripartite elections on May 21.

  1. Letting the law take its course is not keeping grudges. It is called respecting the rule of law. Do you know what happens in a lawless society, Mr Apostle?

DPP is caught between a hard place and a rock. To the right, there is SKC vowing to prosecute those plundering our hard earned resources. To the left, there is Chakwera and MCP promising the same. These are the two parties with realistic chances of winning the May 21 elections. Solution, start negotiating truce immediately.

Mr Apostle, this is the problem when you dine with the devil himself. You throw all reasoning out of the window. Have you forgotten how APM keeps reminding us of how he was arrested for treason by JB government, albeit the only credible treason case in Malawi during the multiparty era. Have you forgotten the non-existent warrant of arrest for JB, how he keeps reminding us of cashgate under JB rule ignoring one under his watch and that of his late brother? Don’t you think it is grudges that drives DPP government to keep victimising SKC and other UTM members?

Everyone who breaks the law needs to face the consequences of his/her actions and any sane, well wishing Malawian will not call it keeping grudges.

Just keep profiteering from your church and the positions this government has given you, Mr Apostle and leave matters of the law in the hands of our learned friends.

  2. Even God did not sit back and watch his people suffer at their leaders impunity, He anointed Jehu as king of Israel to lead the people and also punish those leaders who abused their powers in the past. Find out who dealt with Queen Jezebel and her friends. so where is this man of the collar drawing his inspiration from?

  3. Dpp sucked all the anointing out of this apostate/fallen pastor. He is now paranoid of life without dpp in power.Usova.

  4. I respect mbewe but he could have said dont vote for chilima .. Because if chilima wins straight is going to arrest people , this man adzawa manga mopanda chisoni…

Thank God chakwera is going to win. Azibusa if chakwera wins is going to inspire you, you are leading suffering congregation tormented by the government but still encourage them to pay tithe that’s great.

Respect to mbewe man of God. Malawi these doesn’t like men of God why? Chakwera you hate him , bushiri mbewe nde mufuna ndani poti salanje mumadana naye pitani ku Nigeria tu.. LOVE YOUR LOCAL PASTOR S FIRST… UFUTI YET

  5. Pastor you are sinking too low.Tisiyeni zochita tikuziziwa. Inu kavotereni womwe mukuwafunawo, ifenso ndi ufulu waathu to try Lazaro or SaulI.

  6. The man is in the pocket of DPP…Ben Phiri( his congregant) has fixed him good.Parastatal positions…cars….. groceries everything month…. Calvary Church pastors palm oiled good by one Ben.So yeah…he has to defend these thieves….

  8. He is DPP and he sits in several governing boards of parastetals. “Wayamba kunjenjemera” He is scared the new government will not maintain him and that his masters will be asked to account for the money stolen. It is too late to save them. Why by the way did he not warn/stop them against theft of public resources? Bringing those who squandered public resources to justice will the only way to recover stolen property and heal the wounds of poor Malawians. That will not mean keeping grudges. Why could you not take the example of John the Baptist who rebuked Herod in the face when he had committed. He did not minded saving his physical life. False prophet!!!!!

    1. What is wrong in advising the people the right direction. The bishops do the same. He hasn’t mentioned DPP or MCP. Sometimes don’t show your ignoramus here. Your characters Nasongole and Njiko are bad no wonder Nasongole is not good grass, even in the Bible is mentionedas bad. Kwan’s Nkunika , ndinu anaandani panda mwambo.

  9. Zikomo a busa kamba ka langizo lanu tipanga zomwezo enawa paja akunena kuti adzawamanga onse omwe akulamula pano pamene winayo akuti adzaonetsetsa kuti katangale watha, komanso rule of law ikutsatidwe (akuti Hi 5) chizungu chaocho, ndiye titero monga mufunira munthu wa Ambuye.

  10. This is very wise and truthful! Malawi does not need leaders who are full of themselves and angry. Malawi needs leaders whose love for the country is greater than them, such leaders easily forgive and move on for the greater good! We pray for peaceful elections in Malawi in Jesus name. We pray for a God chosen leader in Malawi in the name of Jesus.

    1. but a good leader shall not sit back and watch impunity flourish even in the bible God intructed King Jehu to punish leaders and Queens who had done deplorable acts in the past. so where is your pastor getting the inspiration for such utterances?

  11. So in short u r saying we should not vote for Mutharika for keeping grudges against Nankhumwa, Msaka and Tembenu who went ahead to ignore them and opt for the little known Chimulirenji and went further to say that he couldn’t choose these ministers because they are crooks.

  12. Kunena kuti adzamanga mbava ndi ma grudges??? Remember apostle any abuse of public resouces warrants arrests..if not now then any day tomorrow. Ur prayers for peaceful elections are welcom but dont get dragged into their dirty politics maintain ur discipline. I respect u as one of your congregants.

    1. It is the role of the church to advise. Those who practise politics are not organs, they are Christians and other religions. The church should not spare away from the nations, it has to pray for the nations and advise citizens right things, and what he has spoken it is truth. You shall know the truth and it shall set you free.

      1. Do not be naive, my friend. We know who this apostle is campaigning for and who he is referring to when he advises not to vote for people with grudges. He just falls short of mentioning their names knowing that his church has members from different political divides who may not take it well. Remember, you do not bite the hand that feeds you.

  13. This is very true.Forgiveness is a must.Jesus Christ teaches as the same.We are not Engels.Everyone has got a weakness.Even in families without forgiveness, most families wouldn’t have been there.Even those who believe in total for tat, they are trouble makers in their families.Their wives suffer greatly.

  14. Zingodyani Ndalama zokuba za Ben Phiri musatitopetse agalatiya bambo inu. Kuyamba bwino kustiliza moipa. Shame on you

  15. Mr Mbewe,,this is what we call mission impossible.
    Your time is over sir.
Kumbile anankanawotu! Kaya tizionele zigwe pano mzatonse.

  16. Of the main political parties, one can easily see Chilima and his UTM have grudges. You can tell from what they say in their rallies, press conferences, etc. In other words, don’t vote for UTM. MCP too has grudges for being in opposition for so long.

  17. Apostle,
The law itself holds grudges and the problem with Democratic governance is that the president has to uphold the rule of law which will make her/him appear like holding a grudge.
Otherwise,we should declare that upon fresh mandate or getting new leaders, rule of law should get blind on those that happily lived against the law.
All said and done, I agree with you, it will be great to vote for a leader who will personally hold no grudges.
