CCAP Nkhoma synod university: Another fundraising event
Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Nkhoma synod is to host a big central fund fundraising event that will be held on 1 July at Lilongwe golf club for its various activities including the construction project of Nkhoma University campus.
“We are fundraising for money to go towards theological education, the construction project of Nkhoma University campus, for salaries of retired reverends, and also we would like to raise salaries for our reverends,” said the General Secretary of CCAP Nkhoma synod Reverend Davison Chifungo.
The K10 million that was pledged by the former late President Professor Bingu wa Mutharika on last year’s fundraising event was not given.
According to Chifungo, Nkhoma Synod owns over 700 grant aided primary schools and over 70 community day secondary schools which are run by government.
He said having had the experience in primary and secondary education , the synod believe “time has come to go into tertiary education.”
Chifungo also said Nkhoma has Josophat Mwale Theological Institute offering diplomas in theology and Nkhoma College of nursing offering diplomas in nursing and midwifery.
“We are encouraging church members, alumni of our schools, NGOs, business people, individuals and all well wishers to make their contributions and donations towards this project,” said Chifungo.
The Nkhoma synod is one of the major protestant churches in Malawi that consists of 124 congregations and about 1300 prayer houses.
