Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera on Monday visited the party’s former leader Gwanda Chakuamba at his residence in Blantyre.
Chakwera was accompanied by fformer minister Sidik Mia heightening rumours that the businessman from the Lower Shire is joining the main opposition party.
Chakuamba in his heydays as a political guru was a Lower Shire giant and Mia is now regarded at the political kingpin of the Lowershire.
Pictures posted on Facebook show Chakwera greeting Chakuamba, who has been sick for sometime and the government sent him to India for medical attention for an undisclosed ailment.
The company of Chakwera and Mia should send shock shivers to Political competitors for the 2019 general election .
It has also been rumoured that Mia may be picked as running mate to Chakwera in the 2019 presidential polls as opposed to MCP Vice President Richard Msowoya.
The Chakwera and MCP communication team seemed to be playing this down as last week they posted pictures of Chakwera and Msowoya shaking hands, smiling.
Msowoya, who is Speaker of the National Assembly, has not accompanied Chakwera to the Blantyre trip.
Chakuamba recently announced at a rally he was now the ruling Demcratic Progressive Party supporter.
