Chilemba, Bellew rematch live on Supersport: Malawi ‘Golden Boy’ bout in London May 25

Boxing fans in the country will watch a blow by blow account of boxing pugilist Isaac Miguel Chilemba in a rematch against British boxer Tony Bellew for the world’s WBC light-heavyweight eliminator bout set for o2 Arena in London on May 25.

The winner would be a mandatory challenger to champion Chad Dawson.

The bout will be covered live on SuperSport after the Malawian’s camp negotiated a broadcasting deal.

Boxing fans missed out the first bout because it was not covered on SuperSport as it has been the case with his previous bouts in which MultiChoice Malawi was also able to bring it on big screen in selected places of Blantyre City.

Chilemba, who is preparing for the bout of his life in the US, said his management team had succeeded to have the World Boxing Council light heavyweight eliminator fight shown on both HBO and SuperSport.

“The fight will be live on HBO and Supersport,” the South Africa based Malawi pugilist told Nyasa Times.

Chilemba’s long time coach Andson Kazembe said the deal was possible because the two would meet on the undercard of the Carl Froch versus Mikkel Kessler on May 25 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

“It should be live because of the main event. However, we will have to check which channel will beam the fight,” he said.

Kazembe admitted that the second fight would be tough as both boxers were working on their shortfalls they got a feel of each other in the first bout on March 3.

“On our side we are hopeful that his trainer Buddy McGirt will polish him [Chilemba] up,” he said.

The first fight drew reactions from both camps as they felt to have been robbed of victory.

Bellew was given the bout 116-115 by judge Eddie Paapoe while Chilemba Christophe Fernandez scored 116-112 in his favour.

The third judge, Fabian Guggenheim, had it even at 114-114 at the end of the 12 rounds contest held at Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom.

Chilemba, 25, has won 20 fights including nine knockouts, one loss and two draws while Bellew, 30, has 19 wins including 12 knockouts, lost once and drawn once.
