51. UTM is dead, kwangosala is burial. MCP is a greater existential threat to UTM than DPP is. In South Africa, the opposition ganged up with some sections of the ruling ANC and removed Jacob Zuma in favour of Ramaphosa. Right now, ANC is so strong because the opposition helped remove a weaker leader and replaced with a stronger leader. The opposition shot itself on the foot. In Malawi, its obvious Chilima is a kingmaker because he has the swing votes. Keeping the weak DPP in power gives Chilima a stronger footing in the 2025 elections because DPP does not have a strong candidate going forward. MCP on the other hand is on the rise, with or without UTM. Five years of MCP government will entrench them abd will discard UTM because Chilima will now be their biggest threat. Chilima must pull out of the alliance, stand alone in preparation for 2025. That is the only best shot he has on the top job. Not only that, Chilima as a retired Veep will still get the same perks as the serving Veep, so the guy has absolutely nothing to lose by dumping MCP.
