Chilumpha says Joyce Banda is ‘God-given leader’ for Malawi
Peoples Party (PP) vice president Dr. President Cassim Chilumpha has described Oresident Joyce Banda as a “God-given” leader.
According to official Malawi News Agency (Mana) report, Chilumpha made the remarks when he addressed a a political rally in Salima North West Constituency on Saturday.
He asked the people to rally behind President Banda and PP so that they should win the 2014 elections to remain in power and continue its policies that are aimed at enhancing social and economic development.
Chilumpha said PP is the only party that has agenda to develop the country.
“Dr Joyce Banda is the God given president and we should do everything possible to maintain her in power, so that she continues developing the country and restoring the economy,” said Chilumpha at Kanjuwi Primary school in the area of Traditional Authority Khombedza.

The former State Vice President said Banda was chosen to guide Malawi into prosperity.
Chilumpha stressed that since Banda ascended to power in 2012 she has put in place strategies that are aimed at restoring the country’s economy.
“Before Dr Joyce Banda ascended to power our country was economically crippled to the effect that a lot of essential commodities were scarce and expensive,” said Chilumpha.
Turning on the electoral process Chilumpha asked the people to register in large numbers once the registration period opens in November.
“We need the PP to win the elections with a majority and that can only be achieved if you all register and vote,” said Chilumpha.
