Chipi Mpinganjira wins Ndirande, Tchuwa reclaims Nkhata Bay West: PP primaries
Chipiliro Mpinganjira, son to Information and Civic Education Minister and People’s Party (PP) senior member, Brown James Mpingajira, has been elected as the party parliamentary candidate in Ndirande, Blantyre City Central Constituency.
He has displaced sitting parliamentarian for the area, former labour minister and PP National Executive Committee (NEC) member Eunice Makangala.
Chipi Mpinganjira is second deputy legal director in PP, a position he was elected into at the party’s convention last year and principal assistant Administrator General in civil service.
Meanwhile, PP shadow MP for Nkhata Bay West constituency, Dickens Whiteman Tchuwa, has reclaimed the constituency after a heated re-run at Nkhwali centre where voting did not take place in the first round.
In the first round Tchuwa, chalked 1408 votes to emerge victor, flooring Mwanson Longwe (1095), Chimota (728), Chiumia (699) and Tunyani Nyamanda (255).
