Chiwembe Centre upgrades to hotel for Football Association of Malawi
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is expected to cut down on expenses for national team camping after the completion of the refurbishment of Chiwembe Technical Centre hostels next year.
FAM has said through a brief statement that the hostels are being turned into top class abode for the Flames.
“The Chiwembe Technical Centre hostels upgrading into a hotel is making impressive progress. The rooms are being turned into top class for Flames camping from next year,” states the release.
“No more hotel camping for Flames next year which means more savings and better incentives for the players from now onwards.”
The Chiwembe Technical Development Centre Goal One Project which was opened in 2005 after three years which included FAM offices and hostels.
However, Fifa Development Officer for Southern Africa Ashford Mamelodi has been critical of the standards of the hostels constructed by Chinese firm.
The rationale behind the project was among others to offer the national team hotel standard accommodation, which has not been the case.
But the FAM has been a shining example of the project which has made them to be offered four phases.
