Chikwawa United owner Owen Chomanika failed to win the hearts of Football Association of Malawi (FAM) affiliates for nomination after reportedly failed to palm-oil some of the members who were invited for a meeting.
Inside sources said Chomanika invited some members of affiliates to sell his manifesto and convince them to nominate him.
But the members were disgruntled after he failed to refund them expenses they incurred to come for the meeting.
The source said they expected to be refunded heir money on transport and accommodation but he only gave them K5,000.
“How do u expect people to nominate him as they only received just K5,000 and yet some of them came all the way from the Northern Region,” said the source.
“If one wants to stand for such elections they must be prepared to spend for campaign,” he said.
Chomanika once said that he was shocked but not bitter that he failed to secure a nomination from any of the nine affiliates of FAM ahead of the elections scheduled for December 12.
“I offered myself but the affiliates have not nominated me. This is a small matter for me Life has to continue,” Chomanika said.
So far incumbent Walter Nya milandu and marketer Wilkins Mijiga are set to face off in the Presidential Elections after the other candidate who was nominated to run for the President, Willie Yabwana was disqualified.
