CISANET, in conjunction with its partners and member organizations comprising NGOs, will hold a two-day 2014 national agriculture conference in Malawi’s administrative capital Lilongwe this week.
The conference whose theme is “Malawi Agriculture at 50: Towards a Common Vision for the Next 50 Years” will take place on July 30 and 31 at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.
“CISANET believes that as we are celebrating 50 years of independence, it is an opportune time for us to reflect and come up with workable solutions to challenges facing the agriculture sector today,” said Tamani Nkhono-Mvula, CISANET National Director.
He also said they have invited a number of experts to speak on a number of topics, looking at how the “sector has fared in the past 50 years but also make policy proposals as to how we should organize ourselves for the next 50 years.
Speakers include Chancellor College based political commentator Blessings Chinsinga, former finance minister and chairperson of the conglomerate Press Corporations Professor Mathews Chikaonda, Dr Thomas Munthali, Prof Richard Mkandawire, Prof George Kanyama-Phiri, Dr Timothy Gondwe, Prof Zachary Kasomekera and Ms Doreen Chanje, among others.
“CISANET believes that this conference will contribute in shaping the vision of the country in as far as agriculture production is concerned.
“It will provide policy options for us to take as we look forward to the next 50 years,” said Nkhono-Mvula.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
