Trevor Hiwa new CEO for Malawi Roads Authority: Replaces Kulemeka

Board directors of the Road Authority (RA) have hired engineer Trevor Hiwa as the Authority’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective July 1.

He has replaced Paul Kulemeka, whose contract ended last year after serving the Authority for at least 10 years.

Hiwa holds a Masters Degree in Leadership and Change Management from Leeds Metropolitan University and a Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Malawi- Polytechnic.

He has 22 years experience working in Malawi and six other African countries at different technical and management levels.

“The Board has the confidence that as CEO, Engineer Hiwa will ably provide efficient and effective technical guidance and management of the Authority in implementing its mandate and strategic plan,” said Emily Egolet, RA Board chair.

Hiwa has also worked for public as well as private institutions including Water Department, Department of Mines, Cogefar- Construction of Tedzani II Hydro Electric Power Project and LSC Brunette and Partners, among others.

He is currently a member of the Malawi Institute of Engineers as well as an Associate member of the South African Institute of Civil Engineers.
