Civo go top of TNM Super League
Civo United went top of the TNM Super League when they beat Epac FC 1-0 at Civo Stadium on Sunday with Coach ‘Sir’ Alex Masanjala vowing to cling on the summit.
The Area 3 out-fit are on the summit table with 33 points from 18 games.
“We will cling on the top table of the league because our ambition at the end of the season is to win two cups, “said Masanjala, whose side is also in contention in the Standard Bank Cup having reached the semi-finals.
On second position is Blantyre United who drew 1-1 to Red Lions on Sunday.
The Blantyre based side have accumulated 32 points having kicked the ball 19 times.
Blantyre United mentor Lawson Nakoma stressed that they will fight on to be crowned as champions despite the league getting tough in each and every encounter.
“Teams are now coming hard on us because we are in top form,” said Nakoma.
After their 2-1 victory on Sunday to Embangweni United, Mighty Wanderers have moved from seventh place to third.
The Nomads have 30 points from 19 games and are being followed closely by Silver Strikers on fourth position with 29 points from 20 games.
The Nomads coach Franco Ndau has promised total war to other Super League sides, saying they have found their corner.
“Our mission is to be on top of the league as it draws closer to the end. Anything can happen in a game of football, “said Ndau.
The defending champions Escom United are on fifth place with 29 points from 20 games as Mafco FC is on their neck having the same number of points from 19 games.
The electricians mentor Charles Manda warned teams not to write them off as things can change in a game of football.
On seventh place is Moyale Barracks with 28 points from 17 games as Azam Tigers is on their back with the same points only that they have played many games 19 comparing it with the Mzuzu based soldiers.
Blue Eagles are coming on nine position with 28 points from 19 games while the old capital city soldiers Red Lions are following them with 26 points from the same number of games.
The Peoples team Big Bullets are on what is becoming their familiar position eleven with 25 points from 19 games having failed to utilise their home ground advantage on Saturday after a 0-0 draw to Zomba United.
Epac’s defeat to Civo United on Sunday has put them on 12th place with 24 points having played 20 games.
Cobbe Barracks is riding on Epac’s back with 20 points from 20 games as Zomba United is chasing them with 16 points from 20 games.
Anchoring the log table is the Mzimba District out-fit Embangweni United with 15 points from 20 games.
