Mozambique based professional Christopher John Banda fondly known as CJ has applauded Malawi national football team expatriate coach Ronny Van Geneugden for giving him a chance in the latest call up to face Comoros Islands on June 10.

Banda: Joins squad
CJ, who plays for Ferroviario de Nampula was called up alongside other Mozambique based professionals, Richard Mbulu of Costo do Sol,  Charles  Swini and Frank Banda of HBC Songo who have been all along being overlooked by the Belgian coach predecessors.
Banda, who is captain for Ferroviario de Nampula, appealed to the Belgian coach to cast his net wide and by considering Mozambique based professionals for national team duty which has not been the case before.
“It always feels good to play for the national team. I am happy for being amongst the few chosen ones. I am coming to give the best,” Banda said.
Other professionals who were called were Tanzania based goalkeeper Owen Chaima, Gerrald Phiri Jr, Robert Ng’ambi, Limbikani Mzamva and star striker Gabadinho Mhango.
