Coach Meke calls 6 Malawi pros for Botswana games

Malawi national football team head coach Meke Mwase has included six professional on the list of players expected to go into camp on Monday to start preparations for their back to back 2022 World Cup qualifying matches against ‘The Zebras’’ of Botswana.

The two sides meet in the first leg this Saturday September  7 2019  in Francis Town before meeting again for the second leg three days later at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The professionals list includes South African based duo of striker Richard Mbulu and midfielder Gerald Phiri Junior.

Mbulu and Phiri, who are teammates at South African Premier Soccer League side Baroka FC.

The other three are midfielder John Banda who plies his trade in Mozambique, as well as Robin Ngalande and Yamikani Chester ,who are based in the USA and Azerbaijan respectively.

According to a statement from Malawi FA, Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango will join the team in Johannesburg enroute to Botswana on Wednesday.

Mwase has picked three goalkeepers namely Brighton Munthali of Silver Strikers, Ernest Kakhobwe of Nyasa Big Bullets and William Thole of Be Forward Wanderers.

He has also picked seven defenders, twelve midfielders and five strikers.

Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets are the highest contributors having contributed tem players while their rivals Mighty Be Forward Wanderers have contributed seven players.
