Community Police members nabbed for murder

Police in the central region district of Nkhotakota have arrested two members of the community policing forum for allegedly murdering a 24 year old man following an altercation.

Nkhotakota Police Station Publicist Kaitano Lubrino confirmed the development but did not divulge details of the suspects.

According to Lubrino the duo approached the deceased Amos Kheza and his relation Andrew Kheza at a drinking joint at Benga at around 8 pm on September 18, 2013 and ordered them to leave saying time was past for drinking.

“The deceased and his brother did not hesitate but left for their home. But a few kilometres on the way they met the duo again who inquired as to why they were not home yet.

“However, the deceased’s response irked them and they then pounced on him with tree branches beating him on the head until he become unconscious,” Lubrino said.

The deceased was then rushed to Alinafe Mission Hospital but was referred to Nkhotakota District hospital for further treatment.

“An X- ray showed he sustained multiple fractures in skull but he later died following day on September 19, 2013. A post-mortem conducted at the Hospital revealed severe head injuries as cause of death,” the Police Publicist said.

The deceased hails from Suluwi village, Senior Chief Mwadzama in Nkhotakota District.

Meanwhile, Police said nobody is above the law and that the law does not tolerate mob justice.
