Cosafa confirms free entry to all U 20 games: Malawi final squad ready on Thurday

Organizers of the 2016 Council for Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Under 20 Championship have confirmed that fans will have access to all games at this year’s competition for free.

The competition which is to be staged in the rainbow nation of South Africa and is scheduled to start on 7th to 15th December.

According to information published on Cosafa official website, the free tickets collection will be conducted at multiple designated places and the distribution will strictly be on “first come first serve basis”.

The distribution will also be limited to ensure there are no capacity hitches on the match day.

Tickets collection starts this week from various distribution points including all the 14 branches of Ubank  in North West Province where the competition will be played.

The tickets will also be available at the North West Department of Education and Sports Development, Moses Kotane Local Municipality, Mogwase Complex, Sun Village, Complex Municipal Offices, Madikwe Taxi Rank among others.

According to Cosafa, the tickets will have nine blocks representing each match day and upon arrival at the stadium, security personnel will be stamping the ticket in the block for the appropriate set of games.

The group matches will be played from 7th to 13th December before the remaining teams rest for a day waiting for the final.

Both the third place and actual final games will be played on 3rd December.

Two venues will be used during the 2016 Cosafa edition and these are Mogwase and Moruleng stadiums with the latter exclusively been used from the semifinal stage onwards.

Zambian Under 20 side remains the only team to have won the tournament 10 times more than any nation followed by Zimbabwe who are six times winners while South Africa come third having won the cup five times.

Madagascar also won the prestigious continental competition once in 2005.

Meanwhile, Malawi Under 20 national team coach Gerald Phiri is expected to release his 20 man final squad to travel to South Africa for the tournament.

He started assembling the squad on 6th November 2016 with over 30 players and so far 25 players are remaining.
