Court to decide on Wandale case Nov 3 : Malawi tea eastate land grab

Self proclaimed leader of Peoples Land Organisation Vincent  Wandale will on November  3 know whether he has a case to answer or not.

The court on Tuesday wound up the case and the Blantyre senior Magistrate Thokozani Soko said she will make her determination next month.

Wandale’s lawyer Goba Chipeta was upbeat his clients, Wandale and Tendai Msikiti would be acquitted of the charges of grabbing land illegally.

They are accused of illegally grabbing land belonging to Comforzi Tea Estate in Thyolo.

After the magistrate set the date for the ruling, Wandale and his remaining co accused went back to Chichiri prison as they have been denied bail twice.

The soft spoken Wandale, who also claims to be the president of his imaginative Republic of Mulanje and Thyolo, wants large sways of all unproductive land owned by the powerful tea estate owners be redistributed to the landless in the two districts.
