Malawi Police at Soche in Blantyre are keeping in custody four men for illegal possession of firearm.
The four are Marumbo Mkandawire 20, Victor Grant 25, Andrew Bulawayo commonly known as (Buju) 22, and Khasu Felix Wamakasu 26, all from Naperi in Blantyre.
They were arrested on Wednesday 14 February, 2018 and have since been charged with illegal possession of fire arm under Section 5 of the Fire Arms Act.
According to Blantyre Police Publist, Augustus Nkhwazi, the suspects were arrested by renowned crime buster Bob Ntekama,Deputy Commissioner of Police ( DCP), who is based at Central Region Police Headquarters in Lilongwe. He was in Blantyre city for other engagements.
“On 13th February, 2018 he received information that two men were threatening patrons at Kamba drinking joint with an unidentified rifle.The senior Police officer acting on this information apprehended two of the suspects on the spot,” said Nkhwazi.
When searched, they were with a Parrabellum Pistol serial number 20011211 without a magazine and ammunition.The two were taken to Soche Police where they were locked up.
On Wednesday, two others were arrested in connection with the said pistol.
The suspects will appear before court as soon as investigations into the matter are finalized.
