Cyprus University honours Paramount Chief Kyungu with PhD

The Cyprus University in Texas,  United States of America (USA) recently  coffered an honorary doctorate degree of leadership management to Paramount Chief Kyungu of Karonga and Chitipa at ceremony held at Bingu International Conference Center in Lilongwe.

“I am very happy with the honour. This is not only for me but my fellow chiefs, subjects in both Karonga and Chitipa as well as the whole Malawi,” said Kyungu.

Officials from Cyprus university said the decision to confer a PhD followed Kyungu’s good leadership style.

Meanwhile, traditional leaders in Karonga and Chitipa have celebrated the development.

Traditional Authority Kilipula who is also the secretary for Karonga-Chitipa chiefs said they are happy that this has fallen on them out of all traditional leaders in the country as well as Africa as whole.

Kyungu, holds Bachelor degree in humanities from LA Trobe University, Melbourne in Australia and Master degree in international relations and deplomacy from Monash University, Victoria in Australia.

He was installed on 26th May, 2012 as Paramount Chief.
