David Banda joins Benfica youth academy: Madonna moves to Lisbon
Malawian born 11-year-old David Banda – adopted by the American superstar Madonna – in 2006 has joined the Benfica football team youth academy.
He came through trials at the Portuguese club in the spring and is currently living at the club’s youth academy at Seixal in Lisbon’s suburbs.
Portuguse media report that Madonna has bought a £7m villa in nearby Sintra.
Weekly magazine Visão reported: “Madonna is no longer a tourist, she now lives in Lisbon.” It republished several pictures from Madonna’s Instagram account that show her visiting Portugal over the past couple of months.
David Banda is one of four children that Madonna, 59, has adopted from Malawi. She adopted twin four-year-old girls from the country in February.
This is encouraging from this young man. Lets hope he makes it to the main team in future.
