The Deeper Life Christian Church has been holding a four day annual national youth success camp from Tuesday to Friday under the theme “Power for unconquerable youth” at the Lilongwe Girls Secondary School.
Speaking in an interview , the national youth coordinator, Shadreck Chimwemwe Moyo said the church organized the camp to empower all the youth on spiritual life, academic excellence, social issues and how to overcome challenges that youths face nowadays.
“We bring together all youths across the nation to interact with them on what they can do to become unconquerable in their spiritual life,” said Moyo.
He said the camp does not only focus on youths from the church but also from other churches considering that they too could also benefit from the camping period.
Speaking on behalf of the youth who participated in the conference, Rhodrick Kakhongwe from Ntchisi said he has benefited from the camp both spiritually and physically.
“We have leant a lot of things which will bring a great change to all Malawian youth by desisting from evil doings and even those who didn’t manage to come here because of different challenges will benefit a lot from us,” said Kakhongwe.
In her remarks, Janet Chinganga who comes from Blantyre said lessons that have been learnt will help them overcome challenges that girls face such as peer pressure, early marriages and unplanned pregnancies.
Taking her turn, Eleanor Sapitana who was one of the instructors at the camp said the youth should have self-confidence that will help them overcome challenges that come their way.
“Sometimes the youth force themselves to indulge in malpractices because of peer pressure but because of the lessons that we have taught them during this success youth camp, it will help them reduce crime rate in the country,” said Sapitana.
More than 250 youths from across the country managed to attend the camp.
