Diamonds just needed a draw to snatch the league title from defending champions Tigresses and complete an overhaul of netball trophies on the domestic scene. It was mission accomplished when they won .

They now  have 51 points in  the 10-team log-table from 17-straight wins;  six points ahead  second-placed  Thunder Queens  and nine points ahead of Tigresses.

Diamonds have been left with a game against Thunder Queens to officialy be crowned Champions next week on Saturday.

During the match, which was well patrionised,Diamonds were too strong for the Kanjedza township based ladies.

Jessica Sanudi led the slaughtering mission upfront while Sheira Dimba and Bridget Kumwenda were engines for Diamonds.

Towera Vinkhumbo and Wezi Kayira also formed a concrete wall in defence.

On the other side,Tigresses ,who missed most of their key players like Sindi Simutowe,Grace Mwafulirwa misplaced too many passes, especially in the third and last quarter.

Tigresses banked much on Enelesi Chibokho, who was a marvel to watch while Beatrice Mpinganjira commanded centre.

However, spectators left BYC satisfied with shooters from both side in the names of Jessica and Ellen for their scoring skill.

“We can only say congratulations to Diamonds for  being the champions. Tigresses will come back to snatch the league next season,”  said Tigresses’ team manager Hellene Mpinganjira-Tasosa

In other matches,Thunder Queens demolished Chilomoni Sisters 85~16 baskets to dislodge Tigresses on second position.Thunder have 45 points.

Gerald Tasaukadala also won 44~26 against Young Pro.
