The two shows have been organized to give the taste of what the new company is bringing to Malawians following its launch this weekend.

Fondly known by his first name Mathambo, the company’s co-founder and director, further revealed Zambia’s hottest duo of the moment, Orga Family of the ‘Botolo Top’, ‘Koka Kola’ and ‘Minga mu Somba’ fame, are also expected to grace the two shows.

In an interview with Nyasa Times on Wednesday, he added that apart from the international acts, Malawian urban musicians including BarryOne, Isu, Sonye, the Elements Dance Crew, Diktator and Daredevils will also be in performance.

“I’m waiting for Young Kay to confirm,” said Mathambo who disclosed that the Chileka boys, Black Missionaries, will not perform as earlier arranged. “There was confusion and they are out.”

Mathambo did not however elaborate on the “confusion”, saying he would explain [later].

Thambo ‘n’ E entertainment came in the limelight this year and has previously organized a number of local shows.

“We [are] planning to do a lot, we wanted to launch it [the company] then move forward,” he said, adding “We [are] not only interest[ed] in shows but also promoting upcoming artist, and also bring different types of entertainment to the people and we will also work with Gospel artists.”

Pointing out that they have passion for what they are doing, Mathambo said the new entertainment company wants to provide different types of entertainment to people.

“We will cover a lot. Since this company is for Malawians, [we want] to promote people who have talent but not able to expose it ‘cause of some problems.

“And also make our artists in Malawi have that feeling of a celebrity. They have talent and we have to respect that. We want people to know that when we say entertainment is not only shows but also other things,” pointed out Mathambo.

He added: “We will sign one or two artists after the launch.”
