Dossi ‘confident’ of winning the UDF Chairmanship

One of four candidates to contest for as a chairperson for the Malawi’s opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) during the Tuesday’s national conference Moses Dossi, says is optimistic  he will win the elections.

“I have been encouraged by many people within and outside the party to stand for the position hence I do not doubt that I will carry the day come Tuesday,” Dossi said in interview with Nyasa Times.

Dossi,  a former Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, in the UDF administration said being a person with passion for the country as demonstrated by his loyalty to the party in times of adversaries, people at the convention will vote for him and become the party’s presidential candidate in the 2014 presidential election.

“You know UDF has made very serious mistakes before, it entrusted strangers to lead the party who after they got what they wanted run away, now UDF needs new vision, direction and approach, the leader who will reconnect the party with people. You cannot get all these from nobody other than Moses Dossi,” he said.

Dossi said UDF remains the most popular party in country, it has structures in all parts of the country but all require is the leadership that has can inspire its members, with hard working spirit, who does not segregate based on religion or tribe.

Other candidates gearing for the party’s top position are Atupele Muluzi, Ruth Takomana and George Nga Ntafu.  Just like Dossi all of them are confident of winning.

According to newly amended party’s constitution the one who will win the position of chairperson, will automatically become the party’s presidential candidate for 2014 presidential elections.
