Dowa DC arrested for misappropriation of funds
Malawi Police’s Fiscal Department on Thursday pounced on Dowa ‘s District Commissioner, James Manyetera, for allegedly misappropriating millions of kwacha at the council.
“Police has indeed arrested District Commissioner James Manyetera,” Dowa Police Station Officer, Assistant Commissioner Michael Msosa told Nyasa Times.
“Police are interested to question him on allegations of misappropriating funds,” he added.
He did not indicate the amount involved in the fraud but hinted it was in the region of K20 million.
“Investigations are still going on,” he added.
Police said more arrests at the Dowa District Council are looming.
Manyetera was in the news recently when he blocked the rally organised by the People’s Party of Vice President Joyce Banda.
