DPP elects Wa Jeffrey as SG: Chipungu, Jooma, Vuwa, Jappie, Chimulilenji get top posts
Delegeates to the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) convention in Blantyre has elected party’s secretary general Greselder Jeffery wa Jeffrey to continue on her post.

Jeffrey defeated her challengers former DPP administrative secretary Clement Mwale and former deputy minister Wictor Songazaudzu Sajeni.
The convention also elected Chimwemwe Chipungu to the position of National Organising Secretary previously being held by Richard Makondi who did not contest as he has joined the break-away Chilima Movement.
Others who had taken top positions in the party include Jappie Mhango (treasurer general), Symon Vuwa Kaunda (director of logistics), Ralph Jooma (director of economic affairs), Evason Chimulilenji (director of campaign) and Charles Mhango (director of legal affairs).
They all went unopposed.
Delegates to the DPP elective convention earlier elected President Peter Mutharika unopposed as national party president and presidential candidate in the 2019 Tripartite Elections.
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa and Salima South legislator Uladi Mussa were elected to be vice-presidents for the South and Centre, respectively.
Cabinet ministers Goodall Gondwe (Finance, Economic Planning and Development) and Bright Msaka (Education, Science and Technology) also went through unopposed as vice-presidents for North and Eastern regions, respectively.

LET’S hope the torch bearers are meant for the better future of Malawians. I love Dpp but I don’t support selfishness when it comes to development. Let’s work for Malawi not party. DPP 2019 boma iyooooo
Ndiye akanamuwina Chilumpha ndi Fahad? Shame upon you kaka ni dada. Yakupezatu imeneyi. Wamva nayo m’bebe.
Shame upon the Kasakulas who supported Clement Mwale to get rid of wa Jeffrey. Mumva m’bebe ndi mayiyu.
The new vision of the DRAGON DELUSIONAL PARTY (DDP)wont take the Party to win the coming general elections in 2019.The DDP candidates in the names of J.MHANGO,WA JEFFREY AND VUWA,are so cheap candidates that will give more energy TO THE TRANSITIONAL PARTY led by the popular and promising young Politian S.Chilima J.Mhango is very unpopular within his Constituency and it is apparent that he will not win in the 2019 national elections. As with the other two candidates,God forbid.
Congratulations , Grezeder.I like you. Ndikanakhumudwa ukanaluza chisankho chimenechi.
Grezeder u hv bn entrusted with a big task with ur team under the wise leadership of APM so pull up socks to retain dpp in govt come 2019. Proud of u bcoz yes u hv showed us u r a strong woman! Another akweni mu dpp. All the best.
How about Dr Phiri?
Congratulations for a very successful convention. The people you have put in the key positions are well experienced and poised to take the mighty DPP to greater heights. Just stay foccussed on what you want to deliver to Malawians and continue delivering. Matipate democracy there is no President who will fully deliver to the satifaction of all Malawians-do your part and let people judge you by what you have delivered.
Mbava yayikazi iyi mwayivotera palibe chabwino chimene ithandize, kwawo anthu sakuyifuna anta!
which ppo are u referring to yet she scooped 1300 votes and also has supporters from her consituency. better remain quiet if u dont hv bussiness my friend.
atleast now the party has not been lomwelized. Bravo DPP!!! Now i will go flat out campaigning for my MP
1,600 DPP delegats have made their decision on the leadership. Let the 7,2 million voters make theirs in May 2019 peacefully and without MEC rigging the vote count. DPP has chosen not to reform itself but keep a significant number of very old guard who are master looters with a tint of ethical leaders who will naturally be sidelined in the next few months. DPP is likely to win under Peter so its business as usual and looting will therefore continue. The next president in 2024 will inherit a shell of a country and will probably cry foul. This has been the trend with Malawi presidents…….always cry babies when they take over instead of focusing on the work to be done. Where is gender parity in the leadership. I thought there is a resolution that 50% of the leadership should be 50/50 in terms of gender. Well, not surprised with the party, as breaking their own promises has become the order of the day.
Wa nsanje iwe…..shupiti.
They say “A political party without thugs is a loser”
Is this democracy where people get senior positions unopposed? Is this not rubber stamping to the people who are funding the party with stolen money from poor Malawians? I can foresee more problems in the party than before. Mark my words and you will testify to this before 2019. The loosing people like Chaponda and Ntaba who fought for for the president and party can not just allow this to happen on silver platter surely the looser will the president and the party because there will be more problems which they will fail to address before the elections. This is my prophecy
That’s not true Mr Nox, if Ntaba had a political substance he would have reclaimed his position. Ntaba has nothing to offer politically remember that he even lost in his constituency during one of the elections when he competented to be an MP for his home area, if he can’t be a political substance in his own constituency what more at national level….I am not a DDP supporter but I feel Ntaba would have received honor in Malawi if he had continued his Medical carrier
Jeffrey has all the reasons to hop jump about beyond holding the Secretariat there is no hope nor a beneficial turn she has never been in a classroom full time zero she is intellectually limp her speeches don’t carry intellectual cogency she has never contributed to any parliamentary debates you’d be squeezing water from a stone. May she learn to speak in measured tones in proportion to the functions that give the podium
Nox, are you not contradicting yourself? you are question why some senior member went unopposed at the same time prophesyzing doom just because Chaponda and Ntaba have lost. What are you trying to tell us?
The centre has never held with DPP. It will continue as is; problems/warts and all. At least the party is excreting the bad apples slowly but surely.
I sanction this nox
A Nox where were you when people in MCP and other losers had hurried up conventions rubber stamping stupid fools and not leaders in the likes of these who are calling for an early election without understanding what laws of the lad dictate?
Iwe Maharashtra urije. Chalkboard did not lose but withdrew from contest. Wapurika muhinya?
Wanthu waheni wonse awo wajaliaka
