DPP-UDF campaign hits top notch as Atupele draws huge crowds in Salima

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and UDF Alliance running mate in the fresh presidential elections Atupele Muluzi drew a high memorable crowd in central region lakesore district of Salima on Wednesday and assured people of Salima of continued development projects in the district if voted back to power.

Speaking at Msalura Community Secondary School ground in the district, Muluzi said Salima is one of the districts that is least developed in the country.

He said Salima being a tourist attraction district was supposed to have modern and up to standard infrastructures to match its tourism status.

“We all know that Salima is a tourist district which was supposed to have good infrastructures to match its tourism status.

“That has not been the case now. Let me assure you that if you vote DPP/UDF Alliance into power, we shall ensure that we construct structures that will qualify this district as such,” he said.

He said the district also has the potential to generate enough income for the growth of the country’s economy through cotton farming.

“I know that there are a lot of cotton farmers here but their efforts to earn more money through the crop remains a nightmare due to poor prices that are offered on the market.

“If DPP comes back into power we shall ensure that we create a conducive environment for cotton market that will help our farmers earn more money which will in turn help the country’s economy to grow,” he said.

He also promised to construct good and enough schools for the learners from the district once the Alliance wins back power.

Speaking during the same function, Senior Chief Kalonga said chiefs in the district will continue working with the current government for the benefit of their subjects.

He asked the Alliance to consider electrifying some of the trading centres in the district saying the initiative will help young people to engage themselves into businesses that will transform their lives.

    Unlike his dad , Atupele only becomes friendly during campaign, after that, he lives an isolated life.

  4. When did Atupele realise that Salima is tourist destination district? Which governments have been in power since 1994? Are they not UDF and DPP? If Salima is the least developed district in the Central Region it is because of his father and the Mutharika family. It appears Atupele thinks Malawians are stupid.   8. If Atupele is a crowd puller, can we say the writer is saying the truth? Because if these pictures on top is what he is talking about then I think the Camera has a problem. The Camera doesn’t know what colour of UDF is,the Camera doesn’t know what colour for DPP is, therefore from this angle I am myself,it looks like DPP has very handful people on the rally just the same with UDF, very very very handful people I mean counted! Majority are those who are not in your gears/ party clothes, or how do you see Cadet? Now those who are not in party colours whose people are they? Wait and see if Chakwera will come that side, you will see Red everywhere including in the toilet. Don’t cheat people Mr journalist!   17. Potential Vice President without any ideas relying on old ideas like finding markets for cotton. Cotton brings the lowest price because transport cost and Malawi is such a small supplier.
    Chilima has a better idea producing Chamba medical marijuana cannabis for export to Western Countries similar to Nigeria who earned $600 million in 2019 from countries like Germany and Canada and others who have legalized the bud for pain relief and other treatments.   20. 25 years of UDF/DPP alliance nothing to show for. They are in government and they are making promises , why can’t they just do it. Atupele is decampaigning his own alliance. Why will he tell people in their face that they are poor but they will be better when they vote them back into power. He is a minister and the president is the leader of their alliance and they are making such mockery statements. I feel ashamed

I agree with you on the first statement of your comment by asking a very good question, when is a polling day,, that one Jamax you are supa, but the issue of Atupele being a threat to Opposition is just a dream of the day, Atupele is a running mate not a vice President of the Republic, ask the Government, they will tell you that Opposition is very strong than the Government it’s self. Guess why? There is nothing on the ground that can shift Atupele to be the one close to the Government, ask Chimulilenji! He is crying everyday.
