Dwangwa frustrate Wanderers with draw but champions move fourth: Malawi TNM Super League
Champions Be Forward Wanderers wasted late chances in the TNM Super League on Sunday to draw 0-0 against Dwangwa United at Balaka Stadium.
The Nomads striker Zicco Mkanda was handed his first start as Coach Bob Mpinganjira made two changes to his previous squad that defeated Nchalo United 2-0 on Saturday.
For instance,Mpinganjira introduced Mkanda for Esau Kanyenda, while Dennis Chembezi replaced Francis Mulimbika in defence.
Despite a late rally in which substitute Julius Kajembe could have snatched victory, the Nomads also missed a penalty in the first half from Joseph Kamwendo after Mkanda was brought down inside the box.
The visitors have also themselves to blame for failing to secure a goal, especially in the 30th minute when face to face with Richard Chipuwa one of their strikers shoot wide.
Dwangwa goalkeeper Carlington Misomali produced an even better save to tip Peter Wadabwa’s curling shot around the post before Chipuwa did the same to deny Dwangwa in the 42 minutes.
On Saturday,Wanderers were on cloud nine as they defeated Nchalo United 2-0 at Mangochi Stadium.
The Nomads scored through Isaac Kaliat and Peter Wadabwa.
Wanderers is fourth with 18 points as Silver Strikers are on the summit table with 25 points.
It’s high time manoma change the penalty taker. This is not the first time Joseph has failed to score from the penalty spot
