Eagles silences Karonga United with a 3-0 thumping to go top: Malawi TNM Super League

As the title chase for the 2016-2017 TNM  Super League  continues, the battle especially for the top spot seem to be between Blue  Eagles and Silver Strikers who have  been exchanging the top spot since the season started.

The league entered week 12 with Silver Strikers who are on break this weekend leading the 16 member log table with 23 points from 11 games they have so far played.

But the Eagles produced a stunning perfomance on Saturday to regain the top spot after hammering Karonga United at 3-0 at the Nankhaka Ground with Gilbert Chirwa among the scorers.

United has been the talk of the town after defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets 1-0 last week Sunday at the Mzuzu Stadium.

This means that the Police cops are back on position one with 25 points from 11 games two above Silver who are on position two with 23 points from the same number of games.

Red Lions have moved four places up the table to dislodge Nyasa Big Bullets on position ten after thumping ninth placed Civo United at the Zomba Community Centre Ground.

The soldiers now have 13 points while Civo remain on ninth with 15 points.

Meanwhile, Blue Eagles coach Decklerk Msakakuona says he will do everything possible to make sure that they avoid dropping any point to maintain their lead.

He also hailed his charges for the wonderful perfomance against their opponents Karonga United a team he described as young but talented.

Karonga Coach Kondwani Mwalweni his side was not impressive but said poor officiation contributed to their loss.

He blamed the referee of favouring the home team as well as of making several questionable decisions.

Action continues in the Super League on Sunday with Karonga United facing Kamuz Barracks, Azam playing against Mafco FC while Nyasa Big Bullets face Wizards FC.
