Empress Sangie resurfaces with solo project

The country’s reggae/dancehall queen has announced a new single after staying for a while without releasing a solo hit track.

Sangie

Sangie last released a solo track One People in June 2016. The song did not do well as compared to her three previous releases I Dot It All For Love, Busy and Ndangozizidwa.

After Ndangozizidwa, a favourite to many Malawian women, the singer was featured on a numbers of tracks by known male artists among them Diktator, Biriwiri, Provoice and Teddy.

She has since announced that she will be putting out a new video titled Mkazi Wangwiro on January 19.

The song is her first solo project to record under Lilongwe based Real Frenz Entertainment, which also manages the singer’s apparent beau Malinga Mafia.

Her manager Young Degree, who is Malinga’s brother, stated Sangie’s new single is off her upcoming album which they have titled Painless.

In a separate interview, Sangie revealed “the song ponders on efforts and risks women take towards upbringing of their families and the nation”.

“The song appreciates women in different ways and reflects on the role of women in the society”

She added: “Among others it covers social ills and injustices women face.”

Animal Lab’s 2016 UMP Awards nominee, Essim, as well as Mischeck are credited for the visuals.

The audio production was done by Sispense, who last year brought out several hits by different artists including DNA.
