Gabadinho backs Miracle Gabeya for Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs trialist Miracle Gabeya definitely has the qualities to play for the club, says two of his Malawi teammates playing in the PSL – Hellings ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango and Micium Mhone.

Gabeya is one of four players that Chiefs welcomed on trial this week along with Italian Gustavo Paez, Pedro Henrique Dias DeAmorim from Brazil and Ismael Olivier Toure of Ivory Coast.

The towering central defender has been on the books of Malawian giants Big Bullets and though he is 20 years old, he is already a regular for The Flames.

“Miracle is quality,” says Bidvest Wits forward Mhango talking to KickOff.com.

Not only does Mhango play with Gabeya in the national team, they were also teammates at Bullets – a team which just like Chiefs is the most popular in their country.

“The fact that he is a national team defender should give you a hint about what he can do. He has great potential and having competed against him at training he is very difficult to beat and is strong on the ball,” elaborates ‘Gabadinho’.

“With his height he is also effective on set-pieces and knows how to get stuck in when the situations call him to do so. I trust that he will do well at Chiefs.”

Gabeya previously had a trial at Bloemfontein Celtic in July 2014 when he impressed but wasn’t signed because Siwelele considered him too young to play right away in the first team.

However, since then he has risen from a relative rookie to establishing himself in the national team.

“He [Gabeya] is a defender that you can rely on all the time,” adds Mhone, who turns out for NFD side Jomo Cosmos.

“Gabeya is a man-marker and from the experience that he has gained playing in the national team he should be able to play at Chiefs. From the games we played together in the national team, I believe he can make it.”

The last Malawian defender to play for Chiefs was Patrick Mabedi who spent eight years with Amakhosi between 1998 and 2006.
