End of love affair, Malawi girl commits suicide

A girl in the northern city of Mzuzu, Florence Ngoma, took away her life after she learned that the boy friend had ended a love affair with her.

The teenager took the extreme step through a drug-overdose as she was frustrated that the three-year-old affair had collapsed.

She was found dead in her room on Wednesday this week with a suicide note detailing the reasons why she decided to terminate her life.

In bizarre news from the northern region as reported by official Malawi News Agency, Police in Chitipa are keeping in custody a 20 year old woman for allegedly cutting off of private parts of her 2 year old child for failure to deliver on some household chores.

The suspect, Temwachi Kayange, sliced her son’s private parts after the baby failed to finish a few household chores she left for him to do.

Chitipa Police Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Solemn Chunga, confirmed that child was found in a pool of blood and they evacuated her to Chitipa District Hospital for treatment.

The suspect has since been charged with the offence of causing grievous body harm which is contrary to section 353 of the Penal Code and will appear in court when the national judiciary strike ends.

Kayange hails from Maulanda Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwaulambya in the district.

  20. Very sad indeed. why take your own life because of a relationship with a boy? I cant help feeling the pain myself for her because as a parent myself of two beautiful small girls its so sad as parent to lose a child like this. As a parent I will make sure that my girls do not engage themselves in relationships until they are fully matured but this too is not easy we can only leave it to God to intervene in our situations because our daughters are so emotionally fragile and boys take advantage of them.

May be she was pregnant and had all the hope that the guy will marry her to rise the child together, we don’t know. In life, there comes a time when you do not even know that the answer to your problem is just next to you. You are blinded. Girls, be careful with your love exploits, do not think all boys or men who come to you you are truthful. The problem is that girls share their cake too early with these so called sweet heart pundits and sooner they discover they have been fooled.

    Advice, the only person who feels your beauty is the one who takes you into marriage and not on the road, picnics, hotels, the lake or mulanje mountain.
